VOLUNTEERING, WITH OUR "TREE HUGGER"

By The Flying Pinto

Starting on Saturday, my family and I will be volunteering for Urban Harvest’s Community Garden’s Program. I am very excited because I found something we can do as a family and include Lucy. My parenting philosophy is to teach by example and since it is important to me that Lucy learns to be a compassionate person who gives back, and helps others, well her parents need to do the same. So off we go, bright and early Saturday, to learn and help garden. The garden donates its produce to two local religious institutions, Interfaith Caring Ministries and the St. Bernadette Catholic Church, who use it in their efforts to feed the area’s hungry. This is such a great opportunity for us to spend time together as a family and learn self sustainability, working for the environment and the community: ) If you are interested in volunteering in your community check out volunteermatch.org.

Sara, I think that’s great and you and Kevin have a wonderful philosophy on bringing up Lucy. Good luck with your garden.
