This checklist encompasses primarily FAA-required duties. Flight Attendants are responsible for accomplishing all FAA required duties.
PRIOR TO CUSTOMER BOARDING:
-Ensure required duty items readily available:
-Current Inflight Manual
-Current ID badge
-Cabin key (on person during flight)
– Working flashlight
– Confirm with agent whether or not an aircraft security search required
– Complete security search(es), when applicable
-Complete preflight check(s), when applicable
-Participate in crew briefing(s), when applicable
CUSTOMER BOARDING:
-Comply with FAA minimum crew complement requirements
– Ensure Flight Verification, Carry-On Baggage and Portable Electronics announcements delivered
-Monitor proper stowage of carry-on baggage
– Verify all customers occupying exit seats meet criteria
– Ensure Final Boarding announcement delivered (after all customers have boarded)
PRIOR TO DOOR CLOSURE:
-Verify cabin and customer compliance (walk-through):
– Carry-on baggage properly stowed
– Emergency equipment accessible
– Overhead bins closed
-Exit seating criteria met
-Address non-compliance issues
-Ensure Portable Electronics announcement delivered
-Inform agent cabin is ready for door closure
PRIOR TO PUSHBACK :
– Ensure Door Closing and Arming announcement delivered
– Arm assigned door(s)
– Complete door crosscheck (and All Call on widebody and 757)
– Verify cabin and customer compliance (walk-through):
– Customers seated with seat belts fastened
– Lavatories unoccupied
-Seat backs, tray tables, headrests, footrests and monitors stowed
-Cell phones and portable electronics turned off
-Cabin, galley and curtains secured
-Address non-compliance issues
-Provide customer count, when needed
-Inform captain cabin is secure
PRIOR TO TAKEOFF :
– Occupy assigned safety demonstration position
– Ensure Safety Demonstration announcement delivered:
* Seat belt operation
* Emergency exits and locations
* Life raft location, when equipped
* Emergency escape path lighting
* Oxygen mask location and operation
* Life vest location and operation (demo on over-water flights)
* Safety information card
* No Smoking/Smoke Detectors
– Ensure Preparation for Takeoff announcement delivered
– Ensure all service items collected
– Re-verify cabin and customer compliance (walk-through):
* Address non-compliance issues
* Monitors stowed
* Lavatories unoccupied and locked
– Comply with sterile flight deck procedures
– Dim cabin lights (night flights only)
– Take assigned jumpseat and remain secured, in brace position (unless performing 30-second review
– Perform 30-second review
TAKEOFF AND IN-FLIGHT:
– Remain secured in jumpseat (unless performing safety-related duties)
– Comply with sterile flight deck procedures
– Comply with security measures for airports requiring special procedures,
when applicable
– Ensure After-Takeoff Seat Belts announcement delivered
– Ensure Portable Electronics announcement delivered (after sterile flight deck light turned off)
– Adhere to flight deck security procedures
– Follow turbulence procedures, when applicable
– Ensure carts and galleys are attended or secured
– Respond to seat belt sign activations:
– Ensure Seat Belt Sign announcement delivered
– Verify customer compliance (walk-through):
*Customers seated with seat belts fastened
*Address non-compliance issues
-Respond to all customer and crew chimes and signals
– Accomplish regular cabin surveillance, including lavatories
PRIOR TO LANDING:
-Comply with security measures for airports requiring special procedures, when applicable
– Ensure Initial Descent announcement delivered
– Ensure all service items collected
– Verify cabin and customer compliance (walk-through):
*Customers seated with seat belts fastened
*Lavatories unoccupied
*Address non-compliance issues
– Ensure Final Approach announcement delivered
-Verify cabin and customer compliance (walk-through):
*Portable electronics turned off
*Carry-on baggage properly stowed
*Seat backs, tray tables, headrests, footrests and monitors stowed
*Cabin, galley and curtains secured
*Lavatories unoccupied and locked
*Address non-compliance issues
– Comply with sterile flight deck procedures
– Dim cabin lights (night flights only)
– Take assigned jumpseat and remain secured, in brace position (unless performing safety related duties)
– Perform30-second review
LANDING, TAXI AND ARRIVAL:
– Remain secured in jumpseat (unless performing safety-related duties)
– Ensure After Landing announcement delivered
– Monitor cabin and customer compliance:
*Carry-on baggage is properly stowed until arrival
*Customers seated with seat belts fastened until arrival
*Address non-compliance issues
– Disarm assigned door(s) when seat belt sign turned off
– Complete door crosscheck (and All Call on widebody and 757)
– Ensure Door Disarming announcement delivered
– Turn cabin lights to bright (757-300 only)
-Comply with FAA minimum crew complement requirements
