I came across this post last night and I just had to share it with all my insightful, intelligent, supportive readers. I left the first comment and then linked it to twitter as a result he ended up with more Flight Attendant comments than he probably wanted! It got such a huge response I thought I would pass it on to those of you who are not on twitter…Of course I would love all thoughts: )
by Robert Coram:
“The biggest airline in the world, Atlanta’s own Delta Airlines, is in serious trouble: a $125 million hit this quarter, reduction of system capacity by ten per cent this year, and the loss of 8,000 jobs in the past 12 months. But I know how to fix all this and, at the same time, advance western civilization: bring back the stewardesses and impose on them an upper age limit of 30.
One of the most bizarre marketing ploys in history was when the airlines dropped “stewardess” and picked up “flight attendant.” It seems that “stewardess” was demeaning and that “flight attendant” more professional. The job did not change, only the attitude. Think nose dive. And by the way, how do you attend a flight?…….

oh my lord!!!
i thought even sexists were smart enough to HIDE IT! never to say such demeaning things out loud. this idiot put it in writing!!!
i guess all little girls dream of being super sexy until they hit 30, or get married. which ever comes first. it isn't like they want a career of anything. or respect.
i kept waiting for the punchline. hmmm…ya…sexism is soooo dead. huh?
I certainly perfer Cabin Crew member, very simoilar to the pilots' flight crew.
interesting…just like when they started letting you wear flats on the plane instead of the heels you had to wear in the airport!!! i remember my mom always talking about that.
I suppose he wants them all women, too, or the name change won't work so well.
I've been taken care of so well on airliners by the older ladies, and by men as well, that I've come, if not to prefer them, at least to have to no prejudice against them.
Airline travel being something of an endurance event, I mostly want to sit there and pretend I'm not traveling. But in my interactions with other passengers and with flight attendants, I want to be polite and kind, and be treated in kind. What really helps me to endure is a kind word or smile, whether it comes from a "magazine cover" face or ordinary, young or old, man or woman.
I just could not believe it…
Really sad! All I will say.
hahaha. You have GOT to be kidding me. I mean, is this guy for real? Or is he just trying to get some attention by ruffling feathers? His article is so over-the-top ridiculous it is borderline humorous…you almost can't even get angry at someone this socially handicapped. On a side note, I had no idea that cave men had such long life expectancies. 😉
