The devastating earthquake that leveled parts of Haiti has left us all wondering what we can do to help. Well, look no further
“Airline Ambassadors International (AAI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization affiliated with the United Nations and recognized by the US Congress. Nancy Rivard, an American Flight Attendant started the organization as a network of airline employees using their pass privileges to help others and it has expanded into a network of students, medical professionals, families and retirees who volunteer as “Ambassadors of Goodwill” in their home communities and abroad. It provides a way for members to share their unique skills and talents to care for others and bring compassion into action.
AAI provides humanitarian aid to children and families in need as well as relief and development to under-privileged communities worldwide. They escort children in need, hand-deliver humanitarian aid to orphanages, clinics, and remote communities, raise public awareness and involve youth in humanitarian efforts around the world.”
With such an urgent need in Haiti, American Ambassadors are calling on Flight Attendants and there emergency skills to volunteer in the Dominican Republic. They will be running missions for at least the next nine months and you will need to make a seven day commitment. If this is something you’re interested in register at their web site, Airlineamb.org and in the right hand column of the home page you will see, “emergency personnel needed immediately for Haiti flights.”
Not a Flight Attendant? You can help too, they are also looking for medical personal and my frequent fliers out there, you can donate your miles.
Thanks to Bobby my co-host of The Crew Lounge for sharing this information with us on episode four, Excess Baggage which you can download now at upgrd.com/thecrewlounge.
My name is on the list,,,
@Flying_Mum had an Airline Ambassador on her last Haiti flight bring a baby back, I can't wait to read her blog on it.
I have the entire month of February, I hope they call!
I saw that she flew there! I can't wait to hear more!! I'm on the list too, it would be great to go together!
I would love to go… I just need to find a babysitter. Will your husband watch your daughter?
Thanks for the info!
Hey PC
great to hear from you…I didn't forget my "tips" post either…think I'm getting my groove back..lol!
ummm, yes, he will but I would probably have my mom come too. Just so she has more support w/ the separation. She's my only hesitation, but it is such a great opportunity. Sign up, you can always decide when you hear back. Love to know what you decide, I wish we could all go together!
So happy you covered this! I was amazed when Nancy said that her husband is still working in Haiti and that they delivered so many medical workers and even provided a way in for Oprah's film crew. This is really one organization that has it together!
That was really interesting, relevant and entertaining. Google search is so dominant that its landing page does not have to follow its own rules
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to swing it… babysitter problem. My husband is really busy with work right now, sometimes working into the night. I was also wanting to go with a group of FA's from my airline to Peru this past Aug. but same problem. I'm sometimes surprised when I can even get away and fly a 3 day. 😉 Boy things change when you have children. It would be great to get over there. Can't wait to hear about it if you make it.
it would be great to go together!
