Injured Flight Attendant Prompts Emergency Landing

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Turbulence further jostled an already injured attendant on a Philly-bound US Airways flight Friday, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Columbus, ABC6/FOX28 News’ Beth Bradley reports.

The flight attendant was hurt while boarding the aircraft in Las Vegas and decided to stay on the flight. Turbulence during the flight further worsened the attendant’s injury, prompting the landing about 3:30 p.m. at Port Columbus International Airport.

Medics treated the flight attendant on scene before taking the person to Grant Medical Center for further medical attention.

The flight was not able to immediately resume its trek to Philadelphia, however. Bradley reports that the injured flight attendant needed to be replaced in order for the airplane to be cleared to depart.

Bradley says Port Columbus is not a base for US Airways, so that further complicated finding a substitute flight attendant. The passengers remained on the plane throughout this time.

By 5:15 p.m., the new attendant was in place and the plane departed for Philadelphia.

The name of the injured flight attendant was not released. Also, authorities did not elaborate on the nature of his or her injury.Injured Flight Attendant Prompts Emergency Landing
