What do you do if you have a few days off, your house is a mess, you don’t feel like dealing with it, it’s your sister’s birthday, and the flights to Tampa are wide open? If you’re me, you call your husband from the airport and tell him to pack up the baby, arrange sitters for the puppies and meet me at the airport.Luckily, this is no surprise to Kevin, after seven years of marriage he knows me pretty well. I have to say he is Superman, Superdad, and Supertraveler all rolled into one. After my initial call to him, I called him back to remind him of some things to bring for Lucy and he had packed them all!
We flew over on Wednesday, the flight was great, Lucy was the star of the plane. The Flight Attendants were enamored by her and carried her up and down the aisle. Lucy of course had no problem with this as she loves to be the star of the show. She would sit on anyones lap that would let her! She was so tired she passed out on the car ride to my sister’s house and when she woke up in the middle of the night and didn’t know where she was she freaked out a bit. That was fun for everyone at 4am! Note to self: Lucy needs to arrive at her destination early enough to get acclimated.
Luckily the rest of the trip went pretty smooth. My nephew Ryan stayed home from school and we all went to the beach on Thursday. I loved seeing Lucy’s excitement, she had her hands in the sand the whole time, you can see her surprise in the picture above when she decided to put it in her mouth! My mom brought her in the water and WOW did she have fun, kicking and laughing. I wish we could go to the beach everyday.
Later that night Kevin and I got a little break and headed out to see my sister and her boyfriend, Schmoopie, play at a place called Jack Willies. They’re in a band together….check out their web site at http://beachbillies.com/ She is the talent in the family! We didn’t leave until late Friday so we headed back to the beach. Can’t get enough of the ocean!! Kevin and Ryan went parasailing, something Ryan has been dying to do…. his mom was nervous,we just won’t tell her when I take him sky diving!
It was a great to see my family. Lucy loves seeing her Nana, Auntie, and cousin. Today was a long welcome home, Kevin worked and Lucy and I adjusted to being back home. She was a little over tired, and Scoofie or Buddy decided to punish me for leaving them alone with a little present in Lucy’s play room this morning. A present I didn’t see or smell until it was too late. Yes, Lucy not only eats sand but dog poop has made it onto the menu. Next destination: The Vet to make sure nobody has parasites to pass on to baby.Everyday is a new adventure!
